Adagio Teas

Adagio Teas

Looking for a gift for the tea-lover in you life? I recommend a package from Adagio Teas. A few months ago the kind folks from Adagio sent out tea samples to many food bloggers to review. I received both "kukicha" Japanese green tea and "rooibos" tea from Africa. Both were delicious. The kukicha tea was delicate, full leaf, just as I remember the highest quality teas from my time living in Japan. The rooibos (pronounced ROY-boss) tea is a red tea made from a South African shrub, has no caffeine, is low in tannins, and has lots of natural antioxidants. It has a mild spicy flavor and is a little sweet. It gets its red color from the fermentation process that the plant goes through to become tea.

Of all the gift ideas posted on their site, I recommend the one that comes with the ingenuiTEA teapot, a very cool way to make a cup or two of loose leaf tea. Check out the video on the page to see how it works. Adagio sent me one of these too, and we use it every day. It's clear, so you can see the degree to which the tea has seeped, and very easy to clean up. Good prices too. The gift set with the white teapot is only $15, and the one with the igenuiTEA teapot is only $19.

I LOVE rooibos tea! I drank it all the time when I was in South Africa. I haven't been able to find it in the US without extra spices added to it. I'll have to try this and see how it tastes. =)

I love adagio teas. Their flavored teas are wonderful too--check out the apricot or the cherry. I have both of the teapots you mentioned and have been very happy with them. They do make great gifts.

Another vote for the apricot tea here. It's lovely. So is the mango.

I really like all four of the teas I sampled...the others are Earl Grey Bravo and Yunnan Jig.

rooibos also contains a lot of vitamine C, i drink it all the time.( mixed with cinneamon or gingembre ) Never heard of Adagio tea though.. i get my tea at a local teastore ( belgium )
You should also check out genmaicha, jasmin, darjeeling.
Another suggestion :
mix Sencha, mate, pu-erh en a little bit lemon ( or sencha-lemon ) it's a mix good for about everything. And it's yummy...

My husband and I have rececently ordered tea from adagio. We are extremely pleased. Our favorites are Earl Grey Bravo and Yunnan Jig, pepperment, and chamomile. Enjoy!

I've been ordering from Adagio for over 6 years, and have been so excited lately when I've been seeing them get more visible. The ingenuiTEA pot was featured in TIME a few months ago.

I've had the pot for several years and got my mom turned onto it when she visited a few years ago. She now has two of them -- one large and one small -- and uses them on a daily basis to make peppermint herbal tea. Adagio's peppermint is the best I have ever found -- opening the aluminum canister and getting a whiff takes your breath away. I prefer "real" caffeinated tea myself, but if anything can wake you up without caffeine, it's this stuff.
