Sacramento Food Blogger Party

It's just bound to happen. Take a small group of people who have spent hundreds of hours cooking, photographing, talking about and writing about food on our homespun food blogs. Take that small group of people who have been feasting our eyes on each other's work, most of whom have never met each other in person, but live within a half hour drive of each other, put us in a room together, and what do you get? A feast not only of great food, but of the joy that comes from recognizing that you are indeed with your people.

Such was the feast this last Saturday at the first ever Sacramento Food Blogger potluck gathering. Hint, if you ever get invited to attend a food blogger potluck - GO! We food bloggers are serious about our food. Well, serious in the most happy way.

Hosting this event was our social chairperson Garrett of Vanilla Garlic who is famous for his creative and exquisite cupcakes. (Garrett's post) In attendance were food bloggers:

Mike Dunne Sacramento Bee Food Editor and author of the entertaining and informative Sacbee.com Appetizers blog. (Mike's post).

Kristy of CakeGrrl, in-the-know writer and Sacramento foodie. Kristy actually managed to photograph all the food.

Kim of TV dinners who doesn't actually write about TV dinners per se, but of food and TV, including insightful social commentary. (Kim's post)

From Brasil to Davis, Fernanda of Chucrute com Salsicha, a colorful foodblog filled with vibrant photos, almost all in Portuguese. (Fernanda's post, in Portuguese)

Fethiye of YogurtLand with food reminiscent of her native Turkey. (The pomegranate ice cream Fethiye made with the poms from the party)

The effervescent Melody of the Sacramento Food Forum with her husband who by the way, makes an incredible bbq chicken.

Madeline of Everything Rachael Ray, a great blog for those of us who appreciate the fact that Ms. Ray is getting people in this country to use their kitchens instead of the drive-thru. (Madeline's post)

Jennifer and Ann of Sacatomato. For those of you who are not from Sacramento, we natives often jokingly refer to our home town as "Sac-a-tomato". It's a great insider's name for a food blog. Jennifer and Ann also work on Edible Sacramento a beautifully written quarterly magazine in the Edible Media family.

Brendon of Something in Season with his DW and DT. Brendon and I recently indulged at Sacramento's famed Kitchen Restaurant and are planning even more fine food forays.

A big thanks to Garrett for organizing, and for Mirepoix Foie Gras for providing us with a gorgeous torchon to enjoy. It was wonderful to finally meet everyone in person, and I can't wait till the next Sac-a-tomato event. :-)

Hi Elise. It sounds like it was a wonderful event - although I suspect that it would probably be hard to get a group of food bloggers together and not have a good time!

Thanks, Elise. I am just honored to have my picture so close to the foie gras. It certainly was a great way to spend an afternoon!

Hi Elise,
I totally agree. If one gets a chance to go to a Blogger Potluck - do not hesitate, GO! I was overwhelmed with the food talk at our NYC Food Bloggers potluck a few weeks ago. I've never been a room with people more food obsessed than I!

This sounds so wonderful! Glad to see there are enough of you to form a delicious community.

And Garrett-- you are SO making something with Foie Gras next year's Northern California food bloggers picnic!!
