Congratulations to you and your site. The recipes you have on your site and the shopping alerts are some of the best features of your site. I also love the fact that it feels like a cooking community with everyone sharing their own tid-bit of information that has helped them to make a recipe even better or with a slight variation. While, I did not vote, because I did not know about the voting, I do love your web site.

Congratulations on a very well-deserved win Elise. There just isn't any other blog that comes close in inspiring so many people to cook good food. And I"m so glad to hear that your parents are beaming. They deserve to be proud for having a daughter who's not only talented but also such a kind, generous leader in the whole food blogging community!

Posted by: Kalyn on January 11, 2007 5:32 AM

Congratulations--reading your blog is always a pleasure. But I second Kalyn in saying it's your openenss, your generosity (you were one of the first to link to my fledgling blog) and unflagging support of food bloggers that makes you and your site truly special!

Of course you deserve the win! Not only is your blog from the palette, it's also from the heart, involves 3 cooks, is incredibly well-layed out and user-friendly--and includes cooking foibles as well as successes, not to mention cook's shopping alerts. It's everything anyone could ask for in a cooking blog. Thanks for being a constant culinary inspiration!

Apparently we all find your blog as appealing as your recipes! Most hearty Congratulations!

Keep on keeping on, girl.

Posted by: Paul on January 12, 2007 8:35 AM

Elise, you truly deserve it. I'm proud to say I voted for you! :-) Fact is, you have the most conscientiously TRUE recipe blog around. You share just enough personal things about your life to make it interesting, but it's still all about the food. And your food and recipes are well researched and so excellent! I hope that more people find out about your website because of the voting. And, as a person with celiac disease, I love that you have so many recipes posted that are wheat-free (pretty much also gluten-free). Because you make most of your foods with fresh, unprocessed ingredients, it is a dream for me -- because just about anything you make (well, except a few cakes and cookies) can be altered to be gluten-free. Plus, it's all food that is available to all -- without the latest precious ingredient you found on your travels abroad that is impossible to obtain. ;-) Oh! And lest I forget. Your photography! YUMM! The food is the star! And so are YOU!

Posted by: Suzanne on January 12, 2007 10:52 AM

Hey... What did I tell you? You're my favourite... Congratulations :-)!!!

Hi Elise, congratulations :) I really appreciate all your hard work in putting all these wonderful recipes, tips & so much more. As the Chinese saying goes "double happiness, & double fortunes" to you on this New Year, Cheers ! :)

Posted by: Karin on January 15, 2007 5:06 AM

Three cheers to you, Elise! Your recipes are true sources of inspiration and help for everyday. Those others don't hold a candle to you!! Here's to another year of great food!

Posted by: Kim on January 15, 2007 5:44 PM

Elise-
I am so pleased for you; what an honor! This is the perfect day to let you know that your recipe for Classic Meatloaf is by far the best I have ever tasted. The only thing I did different was to use Iserno's (sp?) mild Italian pork sausage, then forgot to put in the parsely. I also used Longhorn's BBQ sauce (a local Spokane place) mixed with the ketchup. I had always thought my Mom made the best, but have just emailed her your recipe and told her she and Dad had to try it.
I absolutely LOVE both your blog and the photos, it is by far my favorite of all 70-plus food blogs I either subscribe to or have bookmarked. Keep up the FANTASTIC work, for the sake of just one of the thousands of folks who probably feel, as I do, that cooking is a passion with little comparison in our lives.
P.S. My husband is okay with my saying that as he is the one who reaps the benefits when I cook!

Posted by: Elaine on January 28, 2007 3:53 PM

I have to admit, I am glad I signed up for your recipe updates. Although I love to cook, I don't get to enough. My wife loves it when I do cook, so I've been experimenting with several of your recipes, and am happy with the results.

I'd like to add a little recipe given to me by a good friend several years ago, and I hope someone else enjoys it as much as I have.

Simple Potato Soup

Several small white potatoes; washed, peeled, and chopped.
Place in a pot with one medium sized yellow onion, chopped. (a few chopped green onions are good for color!)
Cover with water just over thier heads . . .
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium / low.
Cook until potatoes fall off of fork, and drain water; keep heat on low, mash potatoes in pot.
Add small amount of milk, and melt in butter, stir and simmer shortly.
Salt to taste.

Serves 3 - 4

Enjoy! and let me know if you like it.

Thanks,

Craig
